What Are People Saying About Mantrapoly?
Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!
“People all over the world know the power of mantras, but Mantrapoly is the most comprehensive tool I’ve found for discovering new mantras. I don’t have to spend hours on different websites or digging through old books to find what I want, it’s all right here.
Each mantra has its own energy and having access to so many mantras has deepened my meditation practice to a level I had never dreamed of. Mantrapoly is like having your own guru at home!
“I have meditated on my own for a long time, but it was difficult to focus and progress beyond a basic level. After working with Mantrapoly and Sanskrit mantras, I have been able to reach deeper states of meditation. By focusing on the mantra, I can tune out a lot of the extra thoughts that would inevitably pop up, and really deepen my concentration.
Meditation has allowed me to manage the stress from a very demanding job, by refocusing my mind & body on the present. Without the mantras Jason has taught me, I would have completely burned out on my job years ago. It has also helped me access a deeper understanding of my feeling and not be so consumed by them.
Working with Jason is truly a life changing experience. He has so many different mantra tools to help you reach a deeper state of meditation. He has a deeply calming presence that creates a soothing meditative environment everywhere he goes. The best part of Mantrapoly is that it connects you to thousands of years of meditation practices that are so applicable to everyday life. Thank you!”
“EVERY time I start to feel stressed at work (it’s commission-based sales, so it’s frequent!), I immediately chant my mantra and think about what Jason would suggest I do in those situations. When I want to be more calm and centered, he’s always my go-to resource!”
“I have been working with Jason for several years now. He is always a calming presence and impresses me with his knowledge of Eastern thought and meditation practices. To relieve stress, I often chant the mantra Oṃ Namaḥ Śivaya that Jason taught me. It works!”

What's the Difference Between a Mantra and a Positive Affirmation?
Mantras are energy-based sounds, all in Sanskrit, and affirmations use communication-based languages. Mantras often do not have an exact translation, and can be groups of Sanskrit syllables, words or phrases that are formulated to have a specific energetic result or effect. You might think of mantras as being similar to affirmations, but on a much more powerful & potent scale.

What is a Mantra?
The Sanskrit word mantra consists of the root man- “to think” (also in manas “mind”) and the suffix -tra, designating tools or instruments, hence a literal translation would be “instrument of thought.” Tra is also related to the concept of protection, so mantra can also be thought of as a tool used for “mind protection.”
A Sanskrit mantra is a sacred sound, or a syllable, word, or group of words that contain spiritual power. A mantra may or may not have syntactic structure or literal meaning. The spiritual value of a mantra comes when it is audible, visible, or repeated in thought. The earliest mantras were composed in Vedic times by Hindus in India, and dating back to an oral tradition thousands of years ago.

What if I Can't Pronounce Sanskrit?
Great! You’re in the right place.
This is one of the main reasons we created Mantrapoly. Over 80% of all the mantras here have audio recordings that you can listen to and practice the correct pronunciations. (We plan to continue recording until every mantra has an audio recording.) Also, there are tutorial sections to help beginners improve their Sanskrit pronunciation.
We’re here to help!
How Did Mantrapoly Start?
“As a longtime musician, I have a natural tendency to gravitate towards music and sound. After completing a yoga teacher training, I became hooked on the repetitious practice of chanting mantra, and soon began an extensive period of mantra study & practice.
In addition to the practices taught by my guru and their lineage, I began studying much of Thomas Ashley-Ferrand’s teachings. I soon was practicing mantra japa 6-8 hours a day in a seated practice, with additional repetitions throughout the rest of my day. Initially unaware of his passing, Thomas Ashley-Farrand started appearing in my dreams the first week of October 2010. He conveyed messages asking me to continue his work.
He sent many messages over the course of a couple weeks, one time even sending a crow that swooped down, grabbing a baseball cap off my head. I got the message. Namadeva (Ashley-Farrand) has produced many books and recordings about Sanskrit mantra, and it seemed hardly necessary for me to expand on his work. However, in my own study of his works, I continued to come across two main problems:
- There are a lot of discrepancies in correct pronunciations of many mantras he presented
- With such a large volume of work, it was a bit unorganized, often becoming very difficult to find particular mantras
Thus began my work to develop a mantra database website. With the intention of providing most mantras in IAST (the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration), I have created an extensive mantra resource that is very user-friendly.” -Jason Adams, founder of Mantrapoly
Can I Save my Favorite Mantras?
Yes! This is one of the best features that Mantrapoly has to offer. As you browse through Mantrapoly, you are able to save your favorite mantras and go back to them later.
Create a list of your favorite mantras, or save mantras that you keep bookmarked for the future. As you continue to become more familiar with the Mantrapoly website, you will realize how helpful this will be for your mantra practice.
Why Does Mantrapoly Charge For Access?
At Mantrapoly, we realize there are plenty of free web resources that contain information about Sanskrit mantras. However, we want to create a site that can be trusted to have accurate information as well as give you an opportunity to learn and receive these mantras from a mantra teacher who has spent thousands of hours chanting mantras.
There are three reasons why we ask for a monetary energy exchange.
First of all, it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to maintain Mantrapoly.com. Hundreds of hours have been spent recording, editing & uploading mantras. Additionally, creating a website that contains more than 600 webpages, yet can still be easily navigable on both desktop & mobile platforms has required a lot of planning and trail & error. There’s a lot of work involved behind the scenes!
Secondly, there is value in receiving these mantras from a mantra expert with over 15 years and thousands of hours of dedicated mantra practice.
Finally, we want YOU to benefit from this website as much as possible. Learning & meditating with Sanskrit mantras requires effort & discipline. It has been shown in many studies that there is a higher participation rate for paid services over free services. If you’re financially invested, you’re more likely to actively participate!
Plus, your financial support will help ensure Mantrapoly continues to grow and develop into the best online resource to learn about Sanskrit mantras. We thank you for your support and energy exchange. If you cannot afford to pay a few dollars a month for your access, please write to us with your hardship. We don’t want to turn away any sincere seekers simply for lack of funds. Write us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, keep in mind that we have 10 free mantras available for everyone to get started.
Can Anyone Chant Mantras?
Yes. An experienced mantra teacher and guide can help, and in fact many traditions continue to teach that mantras must be transmitted directly from guru to disciple. Receiving a mantra in this way may be ideal to maximize the energy transmission within the mantra, however this energy is inherently contained within the mantra.
With sincere effort & discipline, anyone can unlock the potentiality of a mantra.
I'm New to Mantras, Can Beginners Use Mantrapoly?
Yes! Mantrapoly is great for beginners just learning about mantra meditation.
Each mantra is given with audio recordings to help beginners learn correct pronunciation, as well as a definition/translation & short commentary. Intermediate & advanced mantra practitioners will enjoy the extensive collection of Sanskrit mantras found in Mantrapoly.
I have heard that I should receive a mantra from a guru for it to work. Is this true?
Those who have unwrapped the power of a mantra through many repetitions achieve something called mantra siddhi. This means that they have attained some measure of power & proficiency with the mantra. At this point, they may give a mantra to others “with power,” meaning that the recipient will achieve results faster than doing it without having received it “with power.”
However, Sanskrit mantras are your spiritual birthright since they are directly linked to the chakras. They will work even if you learn them from a website, book or recording. The minimum number of repetitions to achieve mantra siddhi is generally recognized as 125,000.
With that said, Jason Adams (the founder of Mantrapoly & voice of all the recordings) has spent over 15 years chanting Sanskrit mantras, and has attained this mantra siddhi level with a number of mantras.
Who is Behind Mantrapoly?
Meet Jason Adams, MM/RYT/LMT
“I’ve been practicing meditation and yoga since 2001 (a low back injury prompted me to try yoga & pilates to strengthen my body & heal my back…it worked!, and I got hooked on the meditation side of the yogic equation). I became a certified teacher in 2005, and for the past 10 years I’ve maintained a daily meditation practice.
In 2008-2009, over a roughly 18-mo period of time, I seemed to be unconsciously guided to spend an average of 6-8 hours a day in meditation. I was experiencing a major transition—an awakening—and started feeling light and pressure inside my head, my brain. I felt compelled to keep meditating, like I had to keep doing it.
While I was in meditation during this time, I felt more like myself. I felt connected, in some way that’s difficult to explain. And interacting with other people became really difficult. I was irritable, and I started feeling more emotions that I’m sure had been repressed from years earlier. There were many emotional highs (the experience of bliss that many meditators discuss) and lows as well.
But all of a sudden, something amazing happened. I started feeling like I was meditating ALL THE TIME. The inner happiness…peace…love… that I often experienced while meditating… well, I permanently flipped the switch ON. And this is what I enjoy showing others now, who begin on the mantra meditation path. How to turn on that inner peace, that enduring & pervading happiness. Now, over the last six years, I’ve fine-tuned an ability to teach others how to meditate with mantra.
Since this “awakening” that I experienced in 2009, I can now feel other people’s energy and chakras. It’s very helpful in allowing me to understand how other people are feeling emotionally, mentally & physically. I’m a Sanskrit mantra expert (or perhaps afficianado), and these sounds can be used to improve how we feel very quickly.”
Jason Adams is passionate about sharing the benefits of meditation and loves encouraging others to develop their own mantra meditation practice. With his extensive background in music performance (Master of Music degree), he naturally gravitated towards Nada yoga, the yoga of sound, and chanting mantras. Jason began his yoga training with the teachings of Paramahamsa Yogananda, and within a few years, was beginning a teacher training at Sri Shambhavananda’s ashram in the Colorado Rockies in 2005. There, he learned a number of classical meditation practices, including pujas (water ritual) and yajñas (fire ceremonies).
A daily meditation practice began, leading to Adams’ study of Namadeva Acharya’s mantra teachings. After a number of years of intense mantra practice, he has gained a deep understanding of Sanskrit sound vibration, and is considered one of the West’s foremost experts of Sanskrit mantra practice. In early 2015, Adams completed a 3-year Maha Mrityunjaya discipline—chanting the Mrityunjaya mantra 125,000 times with water oblations over the head, oblations for ancestors, and fire ceremonies (yajñas).
Following completion of the practice, he began compiling Sanskrit mantras for Mantrapoly, with its online release in 2016. In addition to his enthusiasm for meditation and mantras, Jason enjoys studying the various Vedic sciences: yoga (including meditation), ayurveda, vāstu shastra, and Vedic astrology. Jason guides individuals towards leading meaningful lives by incorporating these ancient practices.
He is currently working on creating a pivotal text on the Art of Vedic Living, a guidebook to strengthen body, mind, and spirit. Jason loves sharing his knowledge and understanding with his clients & followers and is grateful to be impacting so many lives in a positive and transformative way. He is happy and grateful to be supported by two wonderful girls: Andrea, and their dog Leena.
Can I Use the Mantrapoly Website on my Phone?
Absolutely! With this in mind, Mantrapoly is designed to be a fully responsive website, and should look great and be usable on your phone. Currently, there are more than 600 pages, so navigating through many pages will naturally be a little more cumbersome, but there are search functions and menu bars that are fairly easy to use on your smart phone.
In fact, we have designed a few pages specifically to use on-the-go with your smartphone. For example, there are a few protection mantras that are great to chant while driving. Just connect your phone to your car’s speaker system, select a mantra & hit play, and we can chant along with you as you drive!
We also enjoy playing mantras while washing dishes, cleaning, running errands, or even going for a walk or hike. At Mantrapoly we have created pages that work well to use with your smartphone.
